Allianz: Recognized as the Most Sustainable Insurer by Dow Jones

Global insurer and #1 insurance brand Allianz was recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) as the Most Sustainable Insurer in 2021.

Out of 127 insurance companies assessed worldwide, the DJSI gave Allianz a percentile score of 92 out of 100—the highest in the industry—placing it in the top 1% of all insurers evaluated.

Sustainability metrics were measured according to ESG standards (Environmental, Social Inclusion, and Governance). Allianz scored 97, 94, and 90 points respectively in each category.

 
  • Environment – Allianz was recognized for its work on climate change, with the DJSI highlighting the company’s practices in risk assessment as strong foundations for sustainability.
  • Social Inclusion – The company’s Human Resources efforts promoted equal opportunities and inclusion in the workplace. Corporate citizenship activities supporting the next generations and people with disabilities earned Allianz a full score in this category.
  • Governance – Allianz improved transparency in its practices and demonstrated leading approaches to privacy protection and information security.

In the Philippines, Allianz PNB Life has advanced sustainability through various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, including tree planting, e-jeepney sponsorships, and the award-winning Allianz Ride Safe campaign, which promotes cycling as a healthy, sustainable means of transportation.

The company also fosters equal opportunities in the workplace, creating an inclusive and collaborative environment for employees from all walks of life. On the operational side, Allianz PNB Life has accelerated its digital transformation to improve efficiency and further reduce paper usage.

The company has also launched Allianz Protect, a sustainable product that enables customers to directly contribute to ESG initiatives. As part of Allianz PNB Life’s commitment to securing the future through sustainability, a yearly PHP 500 contribution is made to the World Wildlife Fund – Food Shed Farming Enterprise for every policy subscription.
